When I first started thinking about starting the Unleash Yourself Podcast, I made a list of all the people I wanted to feature as guests on the show.

And Marc's name was very high up on that list - you'll see exactly why in this interview.

We all know that starting a business isn't easy; it requires a lot of passion and hard work. When it comes down to it, having a dream simply isn't enough. You have to take massive action and be willing to grind it out at first.

And this is why I love Marc's story. He's a true grinder.

As former professional baseball player who played in the Arizona Diamondback's organization, a relentless work-ethic is ingrained in him. And since he never made it up to the Big Leagues, he decided to channel his dream of playing Major League Baseball through a different medium; by starting his own wood bat company.

"I wanted to get back into professional baseball. I want to get in the Big's with this project. I see this as a journey to the Big Leagues but through my company this time [instead of as a player]."

I'm so excited to share this story with you because Marc wasn't a woodsman or a carpenter before starting Märk Lumber. But he didn't let that stop him. He literally cut down a maple tree with his own two hands and spent months reading anything he can find online on the topic of making wood bats. He watched hours of YouTube footage. Eventually, all that experimentation paid off and he had officially made his first ever professional baseball bat.

Now, Marc sources his wood, purchased better tools and equipment and makes fully customized wood bats for baseball players all over the USA and Canada.

"I've always been a believer in the saying 'Anything Is Possible', with a little research and hard work. If I apply myself in something I want to do, the sky is the limit really."

Here's what his finished product looks like:

In this interview, Marc breaks down the process he followed to get his business off the ground and explains why he thinks entrepreneurs need to stick to the basics, even in the digital world we live in.

I love what Marc is doing and I'm sure Märk Lumber will put it's own mark on the baseball industry in the coming years.
