Listen to episode 011 with Tyler Basu here:
You wouldn't expect someone who grew up in the poorest postal code in Canada to have much of a growth mindset. After all, how could they have any ambition if they grew up around people who had none?
Yet, Tyler was different.
And from an early age he knew that he wanted more.
After high-school he went to college to study business but he ended up dropping out after 2 semesters. He wanted real-world experience that would help him start his own business one day, and college just wasn't structured that way.
"A personal transformation doesn't happen overnight."
I love Tyler's story because he was relentless at becoming a successful entrepreneur. Although he didn't know exactly what industry he'd end up in or what he would be specifically doing in the end, but he knew one thing: if he worked hard and continuously improved himself, things would work out.
He's done everything from real estate to door-to-door sales, to writing his own e-book, and even starting his own blog and podcast.
All before he turned 25 years old.
Fast forward to today: Tyler is the founder and publisher of Lifestyle Business Magazine a digital magazine that can be found in the App Store on iTunes where he features and interviews some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the online space.
"As entrepreneurs we are constantly doing things that we don't know are going to work. So, we have to set aside that disbelief and just focus on actions and results."
In this interview, Tyler shares a lot of incredible content about becoming self-taught and he tells us everything he's learned along the way from his many different, yet valuable experiences.
This is one of my favorite interviews so far because Tyler isn't an overnight success story. He's put in years of hard work and constantly found ways to re-invent himself in order to keep progressing in the direction that felt right. He never tried to plan the future too much, instead he just rolled with the punches and wasn't afraid to pivot or change directions when necessary.
Tyler never fails - he just learns and adjusts.
