Have you ever taken a trip or gone on a vacation and thought to yourself: I don't want to go back home. I wish I could stay here forever.

If you have, chances are you did absolutely nothing about it.

And, the reason for that is probably because you thought it was unrealistic. It was too spontaneous. Too risky.

You reminded yourself that you had too many responsibilities back home.

That life is not that easy.

And although you asked yourself a million questions and thought about all the reasons why it couldn't work, the one question you probably didn't ask yourself is:

"Why not?"

That's exactly what Toni Newman asked herself while vacationing for 2 weeks at Club Med.

And, she never left.

A two week vacation turned into 10 years.

"It was one of those decisions that truly came from the gut, and if I think back on my life, most of my decisions did."

Today, Toni is a professional innovation catalyst and helps people dare 2B different.

Everything Toni says sparks a brilliant idea, and you'll see that as you listen to the interview.

She has a knack of making you feel comfortable thinking differently, wanting to become a high-definition version of yourself, and most importantly, being proud of it.

She's outrageously courageous and totally embodies what it means to Unleash Yourself.

"Breaking the rules is a really important part of having the business and life that you want."

Toni is a master at teaching you how 2B different: how stand out in a crowded marketplace, how to position yourself so your customers see you as a new and fresh option in the marketplace, and how to stop using buzzwords that are so overused they've lost all meaning.

"The only way to get noticed, is to dare to be different."

We even started talking about naked yoga. (Don't ask...)

More specifically, on this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast with Toni Newman, you’ll learn:

  • Why you should ask yourself "why not?" rather than "why?"
  • How following your gut takes you on incredible journeys and life changing adventures.
  • Why innovating and being different are crucial to your success.
  • Why being the same and fitting in makes you invisible.
  • How to break the rules and look at challenges with an open mind, rather than going along with what's expected of you.
  • How to stand out on social media by daring to be different.
  • Why being different is scary and why we all prefer fitting in instead. (Hint: massive results don't come from fitting in!)
  • Courage vs confidence and how you need to keep moving and not stay stagnant.
  • Actionable steps you can follow to stand out in the crowded marketplace and get noticed.

029: Discover The Open World, Travel 30+ Countries, And Build Your Business In An Unconventional Way. (featuring Danny Flood)

Danny has romped through 30+ countries, and lived in over a dozen. He fought as an amateur Muay Thai boxer in Bangkok, trained in several forms of dance, learned 5 languages, and studied Wu-Dang Tai Chi.

He's crossed half of Southeast Asia on a motorcycle, rafted down the Amazon, ridden a bicycle across Mexico, swum with whale sharks in the Philippines, hitchhiked across Brazil, Malaysia and Taiwan, and climbed the tallest mountains of South America. He's rappelled off waterfalls in the jungle, zip-lined above volcanoes, and sailed across the South China Sea.

As you can imagine, Danny and I get along really well.

What I love most about Danny is that he's created a different narrative for himself. And, he's allowed himself to create so many reference experiences for himself (which he explains in the interview) that now, doing something that used to be scary and so far out of the ordinary, is just normal.

"You just go out and you create opportunities."

He's relied heavily on his ability to be resourceful and he got comfortable being uncomfortable.

As an entrepreneur, he's found different ways to solve challenges by hacking the process. Being creative, being different, and focusing on what works right now without worrying too much about the future.

"I think work/life balance is a joke. It's not something you should strive for."

If you think you can't afford to travel, it's probably because you're looking at travel from only one perspective. Think about it this way, instead: why pay for your accommodation when you can trade some free work for a free room? (Danny has stayed in amazing hotels with private gardens for months at a time, free of charge, by offering to build their website in exchange for a free stay.)

There are no rules, no right or wrong way of doing things, and no structure or path you should follow. You just need to do what feels right, and what works.

Be a true-problem solver.

"Fail at your perfect idea and realize it's not about what you want, it's about what your market wants."

Today, Danny runs OpenWorld, the world's #1 resource for active lifestyle creators, and this episode of the podcast is for true freedom fighters, people who don't take no for an answer, don't strive for work/life balance, and just follow their true calling.

More specifically, on this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you’ll learn:

  • What travelling through 30+ countries taught Danny about his true self.
  • Why Danny couldn't hold a stable job for more than 1 month at a time.
  • How to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
  • Why having a work/life balance is the wrong lifestyle to strive for.
  • How to take random, unplanned, and life-changing mini-retirements. (More frequently than you ever thought possible.)
  • Why the metaphor of buying your own island left it's mark on Danny.
  • How to keep growing and learning new things by throwing yourself into new, yet terrifying, business ventures.
  • The concept behind the Cynefin Framework and how to embrace it.

028: How to write 1,000 words per day (featuring Charles Bordet).

Charles-Bordet-Unleash-Yourself-Podcast

People always ask me how/where I find guests to interview on my podcast and although the answer isn't that simple, I can tell you this: I tend to reach out to people who I look up to as an authority in a particular niche and invite them on the show to chat and pick their brain for a little while.

I ask them all my questions, learn a bunch, record the conversation, and then share it with you guys.

And, that's precisely what I did this week.

I've been struggling with writing a lot of content (blog posts, magazine articles, etc) and I just find that the entire writing process takes me WAY longer than it should.

So, I invited my friend Charles Bordet on the show because he's the guy I look up to when it comes to writing frequently, writing consistently, and including the act of writing into a daily routine.

I asked him everything I wanted to know about writing 1,000 words per day and he answered all my questions.

And, the best part of all this is that Charles isn't an author, nor was he a former english major who was trained to be a writer...Charles didn't even go to an English school and up until 2 years ago, he didn't even speak a word of English.

Yet, today he writes 1,000 words per day and his epic blog posts get featured in some pretty impressive places.

“Everything that you do in your business always starts with writing.”

I really loved this interview because when Charles first started, he struggled to write just like all of us do.

He dealt with writers blog, struggled to write consistently, and built up a lot of frustration throughout the entire writing process.

“At the beginning, everyone is bad at writing.”

But, he worked through it and now teaches other people how to do the same.

Can you imagine how much content you could publish if you were able to write 1,000 words per day, or 5,000 words per week, or 260,000 words per year?

You can finally start publishing content that gets your audience's attention on your own website, or even get noticed by other major publication and guest-post on other websites to bring more traffic, more subscribers, and eventually more money to your business.

“The most important part in the beginning is to get consistent”

So, if you want to learn exactly how Charles writes 1,000 words per day while having a full time job, while exercising daily, cooking for himself, and living a "busy" life just like we all do, make sure you listen to this episode all the way until the end.

More specifically, on this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you’ll learn:

  • Why you need to get out of your comfort zone if you want to become a top performer.

  • How to create good habits that will lead you to getting better results faster.

  • How to go from an average writer to being able to produce high quality content that elevates your blog and gets your audience's attention.

  • How to find mental clarity by writing and how self-reflection through journaling opens so many doors for you in every aspect of your life.

  • How to overcome the fear of not having enough content to write about and how to create added value by bring something new to a topic, by simply changing the angle you take in your writing.

  • When is the best time to write to get the best results.

  • How to write 1,000 words per day and how to leverage your new skill.

  • And much, much more!

027: Drop Shipping My Way To $20K/Month (featuring Johnny FD)

I decided to leave Montreal to spend my winter in Thailand for a few reasons. The weather and the food were definitely high on my list, but the main reason I decided to come back to Thailand (I was here last year for 2 months as well) was because it’s a hotspot for online entrepreneurs known as digital nomads.

I’ve considered myself a digital nomad for a while now (I’ve been location independent since 2014), and I no longer felt a sense of belonging in Montreal. So, I came to Chiang Mai, rented my own condo and motor bike, and have made it my home for the foreseeable future.

And, let me tell you, it has not disappointed. Everywhere I look, I see people masterminding over coffee, bootstrapping, and collaborating.

I feel like I belong for the first time in a long time.

When I got here, my friends Nick and Gen introduced me to Johnny FD. And, I’m super glad that they did. (Thanks guys!)

I first met Johnny for lunch and before we knew it, we were setting up our laptops and microphones in his condo, getting ready to record a podcast episode together.

That’s just how things work when you’re in an environment of like-minded people who just get it.

“I learn so much from everyone I hang out with.”

This was my first in-person interview and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the personal dynamic, how we were able to feed of each other’s body language, and how it sounds more like you’re eavesdropping on our conversation in a bar than you’re listening to a recorded interview.

Johnny’s story is amazing and he holds nothing back: he talks about being deeply immersed in the world of pick-up artists, how he then moved to Thailand to become a dive-master, how he had his first Muay Thai fight after only 2 months of training, how he published his first ebook and was able to live off the $600/month revenue as a beachbum and how he’s now crushing it as an online entrepreneur making nearly $20,000/month with drop shipping.

“A lot of it is deferring instant gratification for long term success.”

More specifically, in this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you’ll learn:

  • What 2 digital nomads do on a Monday afternoon in Thailand (hint: record podcasts together)
  • Why Johnny felt unhappy in his corporate job, what caused him to lack self-confidence, and how it led him to become a pick-up artist.
  • What the underground world of pick-up artists taught him about self-improvement and how it ultimately led him to reading the 4-Hour Work Week.
  • How Johnny ended up moving to Thailand to become a dive-master, how he published his first ebook “12-weeks in Thailand” and how he lived a glamorous life by the beach on just $600/month.
  • Why online courses changed the game for Johnny and how they helped him scale his business from generating $600/month to now earning nearly $20k/month.
  • What is “drop shipping” and what Johnny does online on a day-to-day basis.
  • The importance of taking risks and the key to travelling around the world while running your business from beautiful exotic locations…on a budget.
  • And much, much more!

026: How To Get Booked And Paid To Speak (featuring Grant Baldwin).

Unleash_Yourself_Grant_Baldwin

Public speaking  is one of those things that scares pretty much everyone.

It’s actually the #1 fear that the average person has…they’re even more afraid of it than death!

I remember Jerry Seinfeld making a joke about this which really put it into perspective. He said: “I read a thing that says that speaking in front of a crowd is considered the number one fear of the average person. I found that amazing – number two was death! That means to the average person if you have to be at a funeral, you would rather be in the casket than doing the eulogy!”

Although I’m not terrified by the idea of public speaking to that extent, it’s definitely something that still makes me feel uncomfortable. And since I want to start speaking more and more, I thought it would be a good time to call Grant Baldwin – he’s an expert on getting booked and paid to speak.

“The more often you speak, the more comfortable you become.”

It’s not every day that you have the chance to sit down and chat with someone who tours the country speaking for a living, so I had to ask him the famous question (which is also the title of his former podcast): “How did you get into that?!”

The answer might surprise you, so make sure you to listen to the full episode to hear Grant’s unique story.

But ultimately, Grant has spoken at hundreds of events and has given thousands of presentations.

He’s spoken to audiences of just a handful of people, to areas packed with over 13,000.

So, he knows a thing or two about being a successful speaker…and luckily, he agreed to sharing everything with me on Episode #26 of the Unleash Yourself podcast!

“When you’re nervous, it means that what you’re about to do matters to you.”

More specifically, on this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you’ll learn:

  • How to become a better speaker and starting feeling more comfortable with the idea of being on stage.

  • How to leverage your speaking engagements to promote and grow you business, sell your products, and be seen as an expert in your niche.

  • The #1 way to reduce fear, nerves and anxiety. (Hint: You could never get rid of it completely.)

  • The power of telling stories, how to make yourself relatable, and how to give a talk that people will remember for years to come.
  • How to add value to your speech by adding relatable elements to your content and finding ways to connect with your audience.

  • How to decide what your talk is worth if you’ve never been paid to speak before. (This is really encouraging!)

  • The best approach to follow to make sure that you’re getting booked and paid to speak this year.

  • And much, much more!

I got multiple email requests from listeners asking me to reach out to Melissa Ambrosini and invite her to be a guest on my show…so after hearing her name come up over and over, I knew I had to find a way to make it happen!

For those of you who don’t know Melissa, she is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, self-love teacher, and recently became a bestselling author for her new book: Mastering Your Mean Girl.

In her signature straight-talking style, Melissa teaches women how to master their inner “mean girl”, smash through limiting beliefs, and ditch the self-doubt, so they can truly stat living the life of their dreams.

And, when Melissa uses the term “mean girl” (or “bad boy”) she is taking about that fear-based voice inside your head. Your inner critic. The one that tells you “You’re not good enough”.

Its the voice that says we need to care about what other people think and the one that makes us worry about how we’re perceived by everyone around us.

When Melissa breaks down the idea of the ego and how it influences our relationships, our thoughts about money and our perceptions about ourselves, you’ll see exactly why she was named a “self-help guru” by Elle Magazine.

“Once something is out of the dark, you can shed light on it.”

After breaking down the 3 steps we can all follow to master the inner voices that hold us from our full potential, Melissa talks about instincts.

She suggests that if something doesn’t feel right – it’s probably not your truth.

You probably know exactly what I mean if you’ve ever been in a situation that just didn’t feel right? Maybe it’s a relationship? Maybe it’s your job? Maybe it has to do with the city you live in?

It’s one of those things that looks perfect on the surface.  Like you have no reason to feel unhappy with it because its not hurting you directly. You try to tell yourself that everything is okay. Yet, there’s something inside of you that’s making you feel uncomfortable.

Something telling you it’s not right.

“We have to have the courage to follow our intuition, it never lies.”

This is exactly what my conversation with Melissa was all about.

And, in this interview, you’ll see that her mission is to inspire women across the globe to create a heart-cantered life; one thats wealthy, fabulously healthy, and busting with love.

I hope that listening to this episode will be your first step on your journey to living your dream life.

More specifically, in this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you’ll learn:

  • How to use fear and the negative voices in your head as a compass to guide you, not stop you.
  • The three steps you can take to master your inner Mean Girl.
  • How to find and explore your passion by truly assessing what feels good and what doesn’t.
  • How to address your problems and solve them instead of running away from them. (Hint: they will follow everywhere you go!)
  • How to feel more worthy and achieve the highest possible level on your worthyometer scale.
  • The importance of self-confidence and self-belief to achieve meaningful friendships and professional relationships.
  • How to be wealthy in every area in your life by moving past your limiting beliefs
  • And, much much more.

Are you the kind of person that overcomplicates everything?

Like you have an amazing business idea or you want to do something really badly, but in your head is this big scary complicated thing?!

If you're lucky enough, you cross paths with someone along the way who has this incredible ability of making things seem so simple and so possible. And, you walk away from the conversation with this new confidence they've given you.

That your dreams are actually within reach.

All from one conversation.

Well, Jon Nastor is that kind of person.

And if you know what I mean, then you know how one conversation with a special person could be so powerful that it completely changes your life.

This is that conversation.

"Somehow we have this feeling that people are innately born with these skills they now have...which doesn't make any sense. You have to be bad to be good. "

Jon explains that doing business nowadays isn't what it used to be.

And, it shouldn't be that complicated either.

There are no rules and if you're still playing the old game, you've already lost.

He explains that we no longer need to come up with a million dollar idea, get funding, get through a ton of legal work, open up shop, hire employees and deal with massive overhead and inventory costs.

We can now launch our business overnight, with less than $100 and reach an audience of millions of people from all over the world.

And, if you haven't yet started, then you're already falling behind.

"Starting a business is how you learn how to start a business."

Jon's super passionate about this and he knows a thing or two about being a successful online entrepreneur.

He's the host of the Hack The Entrepreneur podcast on iTunes which has reached millions of listeners and he's also the humble man behind the Amazon #1 Best-Seller Hack The Entrepreneur (which I read on my flight to Thailand - it's brilliant!).

I'm super excited to share this episode with you because like me, Jon doesn't like to do something just because everyone else is doing it. Or because it's something he "should" do.

Jon lives life on his own terms and now has the flexibility to just close up his laptop, put it into a backpack, get on a plane with his family, and travel somewhere warm for months at a time.

He's not held in one place as a business owner - that just not how it needs to be done anymore. The internet has changed the game and Jon is taking full advantage of it!

More specifically, in this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you'll learn:

  • How to partner with people who are already doing what you want to do so you can learn from them in the process.
  • How to write emails to influencers to pitch your idea so you actually get a reply.
  • Why you have to be bad before you can be good.
  • How to reach an audience of millions of people from your bedroom or basement.
  • The best way to deal with procrastination and finally get things done.
  • How Jon wrote an Amazon Bestseller in 2 months.
  • How you can hack the entrepreneur and finally get out of your own way.
  • A game-changing skill that Jon learned from his 10 year old daughter.
  • Why I think you should unsubscribe from all email lists and newsletters.
  • Why it's okay to be scared of something and how you can work through it.
  • And much, much more!

023: Build A Freedom Based Business And Design A Luxury Lifestyle (featuring Erica Duran).

If you were to have told me just a few years ago, that I could design my ideal lifestyle and actually live it, I wouldn't have believed you.

Isn't there a path we're expected to follow?

Luckily along the way, I've met incredible people like Erica Duran who have taught me that creating a freedom based business that allows you to live a lifestyle by design is possible.

So, what does it even mean to be a lifestyle designer?

It's simple - you design your lifestyle first and then build a business that fits into it.

Not the other way around!

These days you could find Erica running her business from luxury resorts in Laguna Beach, Orange County, Hawaii, and the Florida Keys. The best part? They sponsor her podcast and she stays for free.

But of course, it took her years of long commutes in traffic and being on call 24/7 working in the hotel industry before she realized that she felt trapped and needed a change.

"I kinda just walked out at lunch one day, and never came back to my corporate job."

And, I'm totally on the same page with Erica on this.

One of the biggest reasons why I quit my last corporate job and have been working online ever since, was partially the long commutes like Erica mentioned, but mainly because the corporate world doesn't always allow change.

There are certain ways of doing things - and that's just how they have to be done.

Even if they're not the most effective.

Even if they're outdated.

Even if they don't make sense.

That's just the way it is.

"I felt like I was a 22-year old know it all and I just didn't like being told what to do."

Once Erica resigned from corporate, she floundered for a while. But she started by designing her dream lifestyle first and then building a business around it. Which really helped her find the clarity she needed to build a business that generates enough income for her to live that ideal lifestyle.

And, in this interview Erica tells us all about the many different businesses she started and why she needed to re-invent herself and pivot many times before finding herself in the online business she's in today.

More specifically, in this episode of the Unleash Yourself podcast, you'll learn:

  • What it means to be a freedom based luxury designer.

  • How Erica is able to live and work from luxury resorts in Laguna Beach, Orange County, Hawaii and the Florida Keys.

  • Why she walked out of her corporate job and never went back.

  • The biggest struggles Erica had as an employee and why she needed to be her own boss.
  • How Erica started multiple businesses before finally finding happiness in the online business she's in today.
  • Why she got most of her clients from in-person networking events and why it's easier to build the "know, like, and trust" factor, in person.
  • The specific moment of clarity that helped Erica change her positioning from selling $50 one-off sessions to selling $12,000 luxury packages.
  • How to get over your fear of putting yourself out there and producing content to publish online that will be out there forever.
  • How to design a lifestyle business so you only work 3 days per week.
  • Why picking your ideal client is just as important as picking your ideal partner if your were dating.
  • How to make money in your first 30 to 90 days of starting your business.
  • And much, much more!

How would you feel if you only had $26.72 in your bank account?

With a wife...and 2 kids!?

And, no job.

Well, this was reality for Keith Breseé just a year ago. He was depressed and wanted to run away from it all because he had no idea how he would ever get out of it.

Obviously, he no longer had any confidence in himself and was handcuffed by fear.

He didn't know how to make money for himself and people weren't hiring him, either.

So, he turned to the only person he knew at the time who he trusted about starting a business: Tim Ferriss.

Keith had discovered Tim Ferriss through his famous book The Four Hour Work-Week, so he jumped online and started reading and listening to every piece of content he could find that Tim had published.

He stumbled upon this interview on CreativeLive between Tim Ferris and Noah Kagan. And, it forever changed his life.

I remember watching that exact interview when it aired live, and I remember how powerful it was. So I knew exactly where Keith was coming from when he said that watching this interview was his biggest breakthrough.

It allowed him to start his first online business.

After watching the interview, he sat down and began thinking of the easiest and fastest online product he could create. Since he went to university for photography and did a ton of photoshoots, he thought he could create a course teaching moms how to use their cameras so they can get better pictures of their kids.

He knew that it was a perfect idea because so many times in the past, moms would approach him asking for advice on how to use their new $2,000+ camera that they just got, but didn’t know how to use.

"Someone liked my idea so much, that they were willing to give me money for something I hadn't even created yet."

On this interview, Keith explains how followed this new approach he learned from Noah Kagan and Tim Ferriss to start his first online business and make sales before he even created his product.

And, the more progress Keith made in his new business, the more he realized that fear was the biggest thing holding him back in the past. It was the reason he was broke. And, it was the reason why he never got started in the first place.

"Your goal should not be to get a YES. Instead your goal should be to get a NO."

Since the photography business, Keith started his new website thetraffic.ninja where he breaks down and reverse engineers what the top online ninja marketers are doing.

He then turns these strategies into easy to follow step-by-step formulas that you can install right into your business.
